Administrative Professionals Day Then & Now

22 April 2026

Post-World War II America saw a shortage in skilled administrative professionals. In 1942, The National Secretaries Association was founded to promote and recognize the contributions of administrative professionals to the American economy, support administrators’ professional development, and help attract workers to the administrative field.

In 1981, The National Secretaries Association became Professional Secretaries International. In 1988, the name was changed again to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), which continues to provide resources and education for administrative professionals today.

Administrative Professionals Day is now celebrated on the Wednesday of the last full week of April. This year, on April 22, 2026, Atlas Surveying once again looks forward to celebrating our outstanding administrative staff.

Atlas employs several different types of administrative professionals. Our Human Resources and Finance professionals are critical to our operations. Our Administrative Assistants and Department Coordinators take on unique roles in our business as they oversee all billing, receivables, and project-specific financial progress for their departments, while also being generally knowledgeable about the surveying industry. As a subcontractor for various general contractors, engineering firms, and municipalities, administrative staff with exceptional timing and impeccable attention to detail are part of what sets Atlas apart from other surveying firms.

A sincere thank you to all our administrative professionals. You strengthen our capabilities, and we are grateful for you every day!
