Cain Center for the Arts

The Cain Center for the Arts will be the exclusive public arts and community center in the Lake Norman Region of North Carolina. Their vision is to build a venue that inspires a stronger community through the power of the arts.

Architect C Design, along with New York-based Steinberg Hart, designed the center to be beautiful, accessible, and close to the homes of Lake Norman residents. The center will feature a 400-seat theatre for live performances, gallery space for visual arts, event spaces, three classrooms, community green space, and outdoor plaza with parking as well as pedestrian access.

Atlas Surveying, Inc.’s Charlotte office is subcontracted to Edifice, LLC, the project’s general contractor, to perform survey services. Atlas will verify control & set temporary benchmarks throughout the site, stake rough grade for building pad and hub and tack for the building. Monitoring wells, water valves and meters, and column intersections with offsets have also been staked.

Joe Humphrey, principal design associate for C Design, “anticipate[s] the Cain Center to be an important asset to Cornelius [North Carolina] and the Lake Norman region, providing opportunities for children and adults to engage in the arts.”

Hopes are for the Cain Center to be an anchor of the downtown area and promote community arts engagement. The $25 million venture is scheduled for completion in late 2022.
